A non-linear solution to the <i>S</i>8 tension?

Weak galaxy lensing surveys have consistently reported a lower amplitude for the matter fluctuation spectrum, as measured by $S_8$ parameter, than expected in $\Lambda{\rm CDM}$ cosmology favoured $Planck$. However, expansion history follows predictions of $Planck$ to high accuracy, do measurements cosmic microwave background anisotropies. Redshift space distortion also appear be consistent with CDM}$. In this paper, we argue that these observations can reconciled if power spectrum is suppressed more strongly on non-linear scales assumed analyses weak lensing. We demonstrate point fitting one-parameter model, characterising suppression KiDS-1000 measurements. Such could attributed new properties dark affect scales, or response fluctuations baryonic feedback processes are stronger from recent cosmological simulations. Our proposed explanation tested using linear particular via precision redshift forthcoming and quasar surveys.
